The porchlight has gone again!
What is more annoying than having a beautiful, oversized, chain-suspended, antique carriage light on your double-height front porch suddenly burn out? Good grief! It is 15 feet in the air… You don’t even own a ladder that big. Worse yet, you’re having a party this coming weekend and everyone is going to notice…
Well, there are worse things… Half the lights in the reflecting pool don’t work anymore; two of your most beautiful landscaping trees no longer illuminate at night; and just to be annoying, all of the under-step lighting from your rear porch to the garden seems to have a mind of their own as to when they will come on, and when they won’t.
Inside, there are at least four bulbs burnt out in the front hall chandelier, the mirror lights in the downstairs bathroom won’t come on, and only one tube light works in your pantry. Is the world trying to drive you mad?
The Modern Solution
Illuminations Lighting Design knows all about recalcitrant light fixtures, about how to make them work, and then to assure that they continue to do so for decades. End the flickering—no more buzzing from bad dimmers allowed! Let our customers tell you about our successes with their greatest challenges.
If you need it, we offer a Residential Lighting Maintenance contract so that anytime a conventional or specialty bulb fails, you can give us a call and we’ll drop by to take care of it for you. It does not matter how high the fixture is or which obscure corner it is tucked into, we can make it right, and bring the light.
Updating is a Good Option
Of course a lot of our customers have decided to get away from conventional incandescent bulbs because they are just designed it to fail. Let’s be honest here: we’re talking about something that was invented in the 19th century, and it hasn’t evolved much at all since then. With lifespans running in the area of 750 hours to 1000 hours, the only thing less durable is a candle.
Modern LED lighting has the full spectral range, well beyond the capabilities of a conventional filament bulb. We can emulate an incandescent bulb perfectly, if required for comfort or familiarity, but if you want a true daylight experience, we can do that, too! There is no color we cannot create; no art we cannot display in its best light; no dark rainy afternoon we can’t dispel.
Safety First
More importantly, you have to ask yourself: “Do I really want to be on top of an 18 foot tall stepladder trying to put a lightbulb in a fixture over my head?” For most people the answer would be “no”; maybe there are some people who are a little more adventurous, but by and large, why take the risk?
Change is Good
Over time your needs change in a number of ways. You may decide to change the type of bulbs you use (usually to save money, since they consume 20% or more of your electrical budget every month). You could change the type of lighting you use to achieve a new effect, or to be perceived as being “green” and more socially conscious. You might even have had a new wall safe installed that requires a bigger picture to be hung in front of it, and the old art-lighting is inadequate for the bigger image.
Don’t worry! All of these things are well within our purview. Our Gallery shows many of our successful custom designs. Have a look and let them generate some ideas for you to consider.
