“A testament to unique solutions
Our customers love us…and believe us, the feeling is mutual! Without you we wouldn’t have stayed in business for nearly 40 years… We couldn’t be more delighted than when our clients sing our praises!
John Malone very kindly dropped us a note, and said:
“I just got home and saw what y’all did. It wasn’t what I expected however! I didn’t know that you could do what you did, and I couldn’t be happier! You guys are the best in town! Thanks a ton; it really looks good.
I thought you were just going to replace the can light kinda like you did in the big room. But, I am so happy with what you did. Way to go!”
Well, we just want to say thank you, John! It was a real pleasure working on your project, and we are thrilled that you so pleased.
The way we see it, there is always room for improvement. It might be a little tweak that goes almost unnoticed, or a grand rearrangement that solves a technical or artistic problem.
In every case, however, seen or unseen, we are always looking to improve safety in everything we touch. We do this by checking the mountings for chandelier lifts, or tightening connections in junction boxes, switches, or electrical outlets; we make sure the wattages are correct for lamp fixtures, or that circuits aren’t overloaded.
In the Beginning
The whole idea, when our founders Jim Stephens and Tom Kretzschmar first met back in 1980, was the integration of electrical engineering and Fine Art lighting. Up until that very moment, for most consumers, it was more a matter of the dumb luck of stumbling into a highly competent electrical contractor who happened to have an artistic flair.
Otherwise they had to hire a concept artist to create a design which might actually be possible; then they had to locate and hire an electrical contractor that could realize the design. What a nearly-impossible chore!
Integration
There had to be a better way, and there was… You see Stephens taught Theatrical Lighting at the University of Syracuse before finally settling down as the resident lighting designer for the Alley Theatre in Houston. Kretzschmar, on the other hand, traced his electrical roots back to his grandfather’s company, Rulon Electric, one of the oldest and most prestigious electrical firms in Texas.
Finally, the synergy of a great Lighting Designer and a real Electrical Engineer was blended together…and thus was formed Illuminations Lighting Design. That was one very fortuitous coffee break when those two first met!
Doing it Right
We say it again and again: There are so many ways to do something incorrectly. With any project, you need to find qualified people that are capable of completing it, and when it comes to electrical work, we are the contractors of choice.
As fully-qualified electrical contractors, you won’t find more competent people at any other company—and you certainly won’t find better people by responding to circulars stuffed in your mailbox saying “We’re in your neighborhood.”
When it comes to the safety of your home, your property, and your family, the last thing you want to do is place your trust in some fly-by-night outfit that will vanish the moment they have cashed your check!
The Takeaway
Whatever your need, whether it is ridding yourself of those energy-wasting incandescent bulbs and getting modern LEDs, installing a natural gas powered emergency generator, or illuminating that brand new Rembrandt that you won at auction, we’re here for you! We cover the entire spectrum of electrical work, from properly wiring a new outlet, to installing outdoor landscape lighting that can make your house look like a palace.
Equally important, we also have cross-trained experts with the artistic flair to make your project noteworthy and memorable. Whether you are creating a showcase for your Capo Demonte figurines, Fabergé Eggs, or First Edition books, we can make it look fabulous.
